Pathfinder wayang spellhunter magic missle cantrip
Still Magic - A decent, if situational, emergency option to deal with grapples, including the ever-popular Black Tentacles spell. If you want a countermeasure, get a cheap metamagic rod of silent spell. Being silenced is pretty rare, and not crippling to a Magus since you can still use your weapon. Silent Magic - Too situational to spend an arcana on.Rod Wielder - Rather situational, and you've got some no-SR spells on your list already, but if you get your hands on a rod with a good no-save yes-SR spell then this can help you.At high levels, a rod with a low-level spell won't have a good DC even with this arcana, and a rod with a high level spell won't get much of a bonus from this. At low levels, you simply can't afford rods. Reach Magic - It's an ok ability, but you already have medium-range spells on your list so it's easier to just use those.Note that as written, this only works with actual rays, not with any ranged touch spell. Furthermore, on any Magus with a good crit range, this works well with Ray of Enfeeblement as well as Enervation (which can be gained via Spell Blending, below). Close Range - You can use this to spell combat with Ray of Frost to deal +3 damage per round (using liquid ice as a focus), which is a decent ability.Note that this doesn't stack with the Shield spell. Spell Shield - The defensive equivalent of arcane accuracy, it is useful if you don't get the chance to buff your defenses in combat, and you can throw it up in reaction to an enemy moving within range.Intuitive Protection - Way too situational to spend an arcana slot on just carry a scroll of protection instead. The spell Deivon's Parry has a similar effect, but without the riposte.
This works with any weapon if you have the Combat Reflexes feat or the Defensive Strategist trait, you can even parry when you're surprised. Flamboyant Arcana - Parry and riposte is a very useful ability, derring-do isn't all that great but you get it for free.At low levels, if you want to boost your concentration check, take the Combat Casting feat at moderate levels, your check should be high enough to not worry about it. Concentrate / Book-Bound - So limited that it's completely not worth it.Arcane Redoubt - Lasts only one turn, and you need to have a good shield bonus to begin with, and you need to declare this before you know you're going to be attacked. This also works on ranged attacks, and combines well with a Distracting weapon and the Disruptive feat. If you hit a spellcaster and he's not dead yet, activate this ability to effectively shut him down until you kill him the next turn. Lingering Pain - A way to neutralize enemy casters.Pool Strike (and all its variants) - Vastly underpowered and a waste of your pool points.
